Day One: Magic Kingdom
We were up early… Day one and we missed extra magic hours for resort guests and managed to get through security and into the park right as Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire began. We’d had a late night the night before and didn’t fancy waking the kids (again, this includes Mr FFT) up from their slumber, so let them wake naturally as we have 2 weeks to make the most of the early entry and we figured they’d be happier if they had their sleep.
We had Ohana booked at 11am for breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. We jumped straight on the monorail from Magic Kingdom to the Polynesian Resort after Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire had finished and got there just in time for our reservation.
After a small wait for our table we were sat at a lovely table with a great waiter who greeted us with POG (Pineapple, Orange and Guava) juice and said he’d be back with our food. I explained the littlest member of our party had a milk allergy, so he said he would bring a separate skillet for him but for the rest of us we were dining family-style.
The milk-free skillet arrived first and it was loaded with waffles, pancakes, sausage, bacon, potatoes, the full works and probably would have fed the whole family. Shortly after our bread arrived followed by the family-sized skillet which was “all you can eat” but in reality was more than we could ever eat.
The food was good, there was a parade of Disney characters around the restaurant as we ate which I missed because our toddler needed the toilet.
We then waited for the main man to make his way round the restaurant when our daughter (lover of all things Stitch) declared she needed to use the toilet and couldn’t wait, so off I went again only to find out that Stitch had already been round to us. We managed to quickly nab him for a photo but absolutely GUTTED that she missed the whole interaction with her hero as we were paying out hundreds of $$$ for her to live out this fantasy.
Lilo came round soon after and we had a lovely interaction with her and made the kids have their pictures taken with her. We are not a family who I ever thought would be big on interacting with the characters but to be honest it was actually much less awkward than I expected and the characters were generally happy for us to skip the small talk and go straight to high-fives and photos.
